Self-checkout upgrade, multiple sites

We were appointed by Asda to handle the front-end upgrade of the company’s self-checkout facilities throughout the retail estate. In this capacity we acted as both Principal and Main Contractor.

The project had a demanding, fast-paced schedule. We upgraded at least 10 stores per week over an 18-month period. In total, 500 sites were involved.

Work undertaken

This included removing existing self-checkouts from the stores and making good the areas left, then installing the new checkouts along with associated signage, barrier systems and other items.

All works were completed with minimum disruption to store trading and were undertaken during the Covid-19 pandemic. All activity was strategically planned and phased to operate within the Government’s Covid-19 regulations.
