The Client & Challenge
National Windscreens was ready to establish a new 130,000 sq ft head office and distribution centre in Chesterfield. The client needed a trusted partner to take a developer’s shell and transform it into a fully functioning workplace and operational hub, ready for occupation at the start of the new year.
With no detailed drawings in place, the client relied on Key to define specifications, finishes and layouts, from kitchens to floor coverings and building fabric, while managing a complex set of moving parts including direct client contractors and specialist packages.

Our Approach
Key acted as both principal designer and principal contractor, managing the full programme of works and coordinating directly with the client’s appointed electrical and racking contractors. Works included:
- Full office and welfare fit-out
- Toilets and staff facilities
- Warehouse yard and civils
- Decoration and finishes throughout
We also drew on our experience of fitting out National Windscreens’ Wolverhampton and Southampton sites, adapting those specifications to create a consistent look and feel for the new Chesterfield hub.

The Results
By November 2025 the site was complete, providing National Windscreens with a modern, fully operational headquarters and distribution base. Delivered on time and on budget, the project created a landmark facility ready for occupation and signage in the new year.
